    On this album Beefheart has pushed his interpretation of the blues into new and exciting places, the avant-gard elements themselves might not be strictly psychedelic but, combined with Beefheart's mystical poetry, certainly serve as such. His opening gambit is almost that of a man in the throes of religious exctacy, thumping his palm and snorting.

    Manche Quellen schreiben, Mirror Man sei aufggenommen, im Inlay der CD heißt es - jedenfalls ist es erst als 4. Album der Magic Band erschienen. Es lagen bereits 3 sehr qualitativ hochwertige Platten vor, darunter das spektakuläre "Trout Mask Replica" (noch heute ein Highlight). Mirror Man gefällt mir trotzdem besser, weil klarer/5(63).
